Haaland double fires Manchester City past Bournemouth into second

Erling Haaland was unstoppable once again as Manchester City beat Bournemouth 3-1 to move up to second in the Premier League.

The Norwegian striker struck twice in the first half, punishing Bournemouth’s high defensive line and taking his tally to 13 league goals this season and 98 in 107 Premier League games. Nico O’Reilly added a third after the break to seal City’s sixth win of the campaign.

Haaland’s opener came after a rapid counterattack involving Phil Foden and Rayan Cherki, before he raced clear to slot past Djordje Petrovic. Bournemouth briefly levelled through Tyler Adams following a Gianluigi Donnarumma handling error, but Haaland restored City’s lead minutes later with another clinical finish.

O’Reilly’s composed strike in the second half capped a strong display for Pep Guardiola’s side, who now sit six points behind leaders Arsenal. Haaland was subbed off late to a standing ovation, joking afterward that “a few fantasy managers were unhappy” with his early exit.
