Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been revealed as the Premier League player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by a football agent in north London.
The incident occurred late on 6 September in Cockfosters Parade, Barnet, while Udogie was out with a friend. Police were called after the agent allegedly brandished a firearm and made threats, including alleged blackmail against Udogie’s companion.
The 31-year-old suspect was arrested two days later on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent, blackmail, and driving without a licence, before being released on bail pending further investigation. There is no suggestion that the man is Udogie’s own agent.
Tottenham said in a statement: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment further.”
Udogie, who was not on international duty with Italy at the time, quickly returned to action, appearing in Spurs’ 13 September league win over West Ham.
