Hamilton Faces Bleak Outlook for 2026

    A Weekend Filled With Frustration

Lewis Hamilton voices clear frustration after another difficult race weekend in Las Vegas. The seven-time world champion starts last after a slow qualifying session. It marks the first time in his 19-year career that he qualifies last purely on pace. He climbs into the points early, but he later fails to pass Nico Hülkenberg’s Sauber. He struggles on medium tyres and finishes only tenth.

Hamilton calls the result “terrible” and says he sees “nothing positive” in the day. He tells a UK radio station that he only wants the season to end. He adds that he does not look forward to the next one. When asked if he means the Qatar race, he responds: “Next season.”

    Leclerc Extends His Advantage

Hamilton holds sixth place in the championship. He sits 73 points behind Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, who stands fifth. He still waits for his first race podium with Ferrari. He joined the team this season and only claimed the sprint win in China.

If he misses the podium in the final two races of 2025, he records his first season without a top-three finish.

A Season Marked by Ongoing Struggles

His Las Vegas problems begin during qualifying. The wet conditions create major difficulties. He lacks pace on the extreme wet tyre and drops crucial time. Two weeks earlier he describes his first Ferrari season as “a nightmare” after retiring in São Paulo.

In an interview with a major British sports network after the Vegas race, he reflects on his situation. He says he feels “terrible”. He calls the year “the worst season ever”. He explains that everything keeps getting worse, no matter how hard he tries.
