Juventus have dismissed head coach Igor Tudor following an eight-match winless run across all competitions, the club confirmed on Monday.
“Juventus FC announces that it has today relieved Igor Tudor of his duties as coach of the men’s first team, along with his staff,” read a club statement, released a day after their 1-0 defeat to Lazio.
Massimo Brambilla, coach of Juve’s reserve side, will step in as interim manager while the club searches for a permanent replacement.
Tudor, appointed in March as Juventus’s first foreign coach since Didier Deschamps in 2006–07, had initially impressed by guiding the team to fourth place in Serie A and securing Champions League qualification. However, after starting the new season with three straight wins, the team’s form collapsed, recording five consecutive draws before suffering defeats to Como, Real Madrid, and Lazio.
“I think we prepared for the match in the right way, but we’re still missing something,” Tudor said after the loss in Rome. “We’re all responsible for this difficult period.”
The decision marks Juventus’s earliest managerial change since 1969, when Luis Carniglia was replaced before November.
The Turin side, who have gone four games without scoring, sit eighth in Serie A, six points behind leaders Napoli, and will host Udinese on Wednesday.
