Team USA successfully defended its Olympic gold in the team figure skating event at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan‑Cortina. The American team delivered strong performances across all disciplines, ensuring victory despite fierce competition from Russia, Japan, and Canada.

The event featured skaters competing in men’s and women’s singles, pairs, and ice dance. Team USA’s athletes displayed technical skill and artistic flair, earning high scores from judges and securing a comfortable lead by the final segment.

Standout performances included Alexandra Trusova in women’s singles, whose triple-triple combinations wowed the audience, and Nathan Chen in men’s singles, whose clean jumps and precise spins contributed heavily to the team’s overall score. The pairs team, Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier, delivered flawless lifts and synchronized jumps that captivated the judges.

Ice dance stars Madison Chock and Evan Bates also played a crucial role, performing intricate footwork and expressive routines that earned near-perfect marks. Each segment showcased the depth and versatility of the U.S. figure skating program.

Team USA finished with a total of 87.3 points, narrowly edging out Team Japan, who scored 84.6 points, and Team Russia, who finished with 82.1 points. The win marked the second consecutive Olympic gold in team figure skating for the United States, cementing its dominance in the sport.

Coaches praised the athletes for their preparation and focus under pressure. The team had trained for months, perfecting each routine and ensuring consistency across all events. Their hard work paid off with clean performances and minimal errors throughout the competition.

This victory also reflects the strength of the U.S. figure skating program at both senior and junior levels. Many of the athletes competing in Milan‑Cortina have competed in previous World Championships, gaining experience that translated into poise and confidence on the Olympic stage.

Fans and commentators celebrated Team USA’s accomplishment, noting the seamless teamwork and individual excellence that defined the competition. Social media buzzed with praise for the athletes, highlighting their skill, artistry, and determination.

Defending Olympic gold is never easy, especially with strong teams from Europe and Asia. Yet Team USA’s consistent performances, strategic lineup, and depth across all disciplines allowed them to maintain a lead and secure the championship.

The U.S. Olympic figure skating team now looks ahead to individual events, where many of the same athletes will compete for additional medals. Their team gold victory sets a positive tone for the remainder of the Games and boosts morale for both athletes and fans.

In her post-competition interview, Alexandra Trusova said the team’s success was a result of trust and coordination, emphasizing how every member contributed to the gold medal. Nathan Chen echoed her comments, highlighting the importance of teamwork in a sport often focused on individual performance.

This latest win strengthens the U.S. legacy in Olympic figure skating and inspires the next generation of skaters. It proves that with preparation, skill, and collaboration, Team USA remains a dominant force in international figure skating competitions.
