Reddit Surges Past TikTok in UK as Gen Z Seek Human Answers

Reddit has overtaken TikTok as the UK’s fourth most visited social media site.
The platform now reaches three in five UK internet users, up sharply from 2023.

Growth has been strongest among young adults.
More than 75% of UK users aged 18 to 24 now visit Reddit regularly.

Ofcom data shows Reddit is now the sixth most visited site of any kind for that age group.
The UK is Reddit’s second largest market after the US.

A major driver has been changes to Google search algorithms.
These updates prioritise helpful forum content, boosting Reddit’s visibility.

Reddit has also signed data deals with Google and OpenAI.
Its posts are now heavily cited in AI-generated search summaries.

Younger users are drawn to human-generated opinions on topics like skincare, parenting and sport.
Women now make up more than half of Reddit’s UK audience.

Football discussion has surged, including Premier League and women’s football forums.
Reddit says users increasingly value its unfiltered, community-led advice over AI-generated content.
